Can anyone suggest pros and cons of building oracle failover cluster setup in VMware vs physical bare metal machine.

VMware is now supported by Oracle (since a few weeks ago) so you could use it if you want. The question is "why?" It is an extra layer of technology for which you have no need. If there really is a need for virtualization, why would you not use OVM? That has potentially huge financial advantages for licensing.
